SWAT – A trip to scenic Swat Valley turns into nightmare for couple from Peshawar after two police personnel reportedly intercepted them on pretext of questioning and took them to a hotel, where the woman was sexually assaulted.
The disturbing incident was reported from Mingora, one of Swat’s busiest tourist destinations, raising serious concerns over the alleged involvement of law enforcement personnel in a crime against visitors. According to reports, the husband and wife were returning from Bahrain, a popular tourist destination in Swat, when two police personnel stopped them at Angro Dherai Chowk.
The suspects allegedly used the pretext of an investigation to intercept the couple before taking them to a hotel situated on Mingora’s Bypass Road. It was at the hotel that the woman was allegedly subjected to sexual assault, turning what was meant to be a recreational visit into a deeply distressing ordeal.
After incident, the affected woman approached the police and lodged a complaint against the two personnel. Acting on her complaint, Rahimabad Police Station registered a criminal case and arrested both accused officials. The arrested police personnel belong to Peshawar. One of the suspects is also reportedly ex-serviceman.
The alleged involvement of police personnel has added a disturbing dimension to the case, particularly as the suspects are accused of exploiting the authority associated with their positions to intercept tourists.
The incident also brought attention to concerns surrounding the safety of visitors travelling through Swat, a region widely known for its natural beauty and thriving tourism industry. Both suspects are now in police custody, while the allegations against them remain subject to investigation and judicial determination.
