SBP Launches Innovation Hub Collaboration Framework

Sbp Launches Innovation Hub Collaboration Framework

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched the Collaboration Framework of its Innovation Hub to promote structured engagement with the country’s financial technology ecosystem.

Established under SBP Vision 2028, the Innovation Hub will facilitate capacity building, knowledge sharing and ecosystem development through non-exclusive, technology-neutral and provider-neutral partnerships.

The first initiative under the framework is the Mojaloop Country Accelerator Program for Pakistan, launched in collaboration with the Mojaloop Foundation. The 16-week programme, running from November 2026 to February 2027, combines self-paced learning with expert-led training to build expertise in digital payment infrastructure.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Karachi, SBP Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah said the programme would help connect Pakistani talent with global expertise and enable local institutions to develop practical and innovative payment solutions.

The Mojaloop Foundation, which maintains the open-source Mojaloop payment software, is supporting the programme through technical training and programme design. It targets system implementers, digital financial service providers and payment-hub operators.

Participants will also gain access to the Mojaloop technical community, enabling continued knowledge sharing and adoption of global best practices in Pakistan’s evolving digital payments sector.

The initiative is part of SBP’s broader efforts to promote responsible innovation, strengthen the digital payments ecosystem and expand financial inclusion in support of inclusive economic growth.
