Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmeds Marriage Dissolved Through Khula Decree

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad family court on Tuesday granted Humaira Tayyaba a Khula (Divorce Initiated by Wife) decree, dissolving her marriage to former Jamaat-e-Islami senator Mushtaq Ahmed after reconciliation efforts failed between the two.

Judge Ambreen Iqbal issued the ruling after Humaira was unwilling to continue the marriage. She expressed strong aversion to maintaining the relationship and refused to resume living with her ex-Senator, and with no chance of reconciliation, the court granted her a Khula decree.

Humaira also withdrew requests for maintenance for minor children, educational and other expenses for unmarried daughters, and additional relief. The court subsequently dismissed those claims. One report places her withdrawal statement around October 7, 2026. The judge ordered certified copies of the decree to be sent to Mushtaq and the relevant Union Council.
