Pakistan Offers Bangladesh Help to Tackle Energy Crisis

Pakistan Offers Bangladesh Help To Tackle Energy Crisis

Pakistan has offered to share its experience with Bangladesh to help address the energy crisis triggered by the Middle East conflict and disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

The offer was made during a meeting between Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and Bangladesh’s Finance Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir in Islamabad.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistan High Commission in Bangladesh on Tuesday, the two sides discussed strategies to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies, manage market uncertainty and minimise economic repercussions.

Malik briefed Titumir on Pakistan’s efforts to secure fuel supplies and provide public relief through targeted subsidies.

Titumir stressed the need to diversify energy sources and supply routes, while appreciating Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the Iran conflict and secure LNG shipments from Qatar through the Strait of Hormuz.

Both sides underscored the importance of regional cooperation and continued engagement to strengthen energy security and mitigate future supply disruptions.
