JUI should stop trying to become PTI’s b-team: Azma

Azma Looks To New Film Leadership For Cinema Revival

Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari, responding to a statement by Kamran Murtaza, said that the practical measures and performance of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for public service were causing discomfort not only to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf but also to several others. Azma Bokhari said PTI was already sufficient to engage in political point-scoring over Maryam Nawaz’s initiatives, adding that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) should not try to become PTI’s B-team. “Politics of having a dagger under one’s arm while professing goodwill is no longer going to work,” she remarked.

The provincial information minister said the people of Punjab had given Maryam Nawaz their mandate, and fulfilling public expectations remained her foremost priority. She added that the protection of women and children was among the top priorities of the Punjab government. Incidents of violence against women and abuse of children were absolutely unacceptable, she said.

Azma Bokhari further said the reasons behind directing anger against the state over the removal of illegal encroachments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) were well known.

She maintained that Maryam Nawaz would take every measure in the best interest of the people to maintain law and order in Punjab and protect their lives and property. Criticism would not deter her, she said, adding that she would make no compromise whatsoever on the protection of the lives and property of the people.
