The federal government has increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.29 per litre while keeping petrol prices unchanged for the next three days.
Following the revision, petrol will remain at Rs377.91 per litre, while diesel will cost Rs402.96 per litre. The revised rates will remain in effect until November 2, according to the Petroleum Division notification.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has introduced daily petroleum price announcements to improve transparency and reflect international market fluctuations.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said prices would be calculated using the average international rates recorded over the preceding seven days.
The new mechanism replaces the previous weekly review system, which was introduced after hostilities erupted in the Middle East on February 28. The government had earlier revised fuel prices every fortnight.
The latest change comes amid renewed regional tensions and uncertainty surrounding energy supplies through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
