Pakistan and the United States have discussed expanding energy cooperation, including long-term energy supply agreements and investment in the refinery upgradation programme.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker on Monday.
Malik briefed Baker on Pakistan’s efforts to maintain fuel supplies amid the ongoing Middle East conflict. Baker commended Pakistan for managing its fuel needs despite regional challenges and expressed Washington’s willingness to support the country’s energy requirements.
Officials from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) also highlighted interest among US companies in supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Pakistan.
Malik invited American companies to participate in the upcoming Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum, while emphasising that stronger bilateral engagement could improve energy security and create investment opportunities.
