Islamabad roads update today as two major routes closed for two days

Islamabad Traffic Advisory Avoid These Routes Due To Road Diversions Today

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad Traffic Police has announced a traffic diversion plan for October 24 and 25, 2026, as two major roads have been closed for traffic.

The police said roads from Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk, as well as the route from Serena Hotel to Kashmir Chowk, will remain completely closed for two days.

Commuters have been urged to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience and expected delays during the closure period.

Alternative Routes

According to the plan, motorists travelling from G-5, the Secretariat and Serena Hotel towards Rawalpindi can use Srinagar Highway and Ninth Avenue. Another option is to travel via Srinagar Highway, Mehrabad and Peshawar Road. Commuters can also take the Lake View U-turn to access Murree Road or Club Road.

Those heading towards Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road and Lehtrar Road have been advised to use Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road, Tulip Hotel and Rawal Dam Road.

Travellers bound for Murree and Bhara Kahu can use Faizabad, Faisal Avenue, Zero Point, the Srinagar Highway underpass and Jinnah Square before proceeding through Kontraiyan Wala Chowk towards their destinations.

Motorists entering Islamabad from Rawalpindi have been advised to use Ninth Avenue, Faqir Aipi Road and Srinagar Highway.

Meanwhile, people travelling from Park Road and Lehtrar Road towards Islamabad can take Tulip Hotel Road, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian Road and Seventh Avenue.

The traffic police warned that diversions could affect traffic flow on several roads and advised citizens to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys.

Traffic police officers will remain deployed to assist commuters and facilitate the movement of vehicles during the road closures.
