Fresh decline pushed gold to its lowest price in the October 1–23 figures, reversing gains recorded earlier in the month. The precious metal had reached Rs442,036 per tola on October 10, its highest level during the period. Since then, it has shed Rs17,500 per tola. Compared with the October 1 rate of Rs438,636, gold is now cheaper by Rs14,100.
Prices showed considerable volatility during the month. A Rs5,900 surge on October 9 helped lift gold above Rs440,000 per tola, but subsequent declines eroded those gains.
The downward pressure intensified this week. Following an unchanged rate on October 19, gold fell Rs3,600 on October 20, Rs900 on October 21, Rs3,000 on October 22 and Rs7,000 on October 23—a cumulative reduction of Rs14,500 across four consecutive trading sessions.
