Secp Launches Probe Into Se Fruits And Vegetable Ipo

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has launched an investigation into the accuracy and completeness of disclosures made in the initial public offering (IPO) of SE Fruits and Vegetable Limited.

The inquiry will examine the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) role as a frontline regulator, the due diligence conducted by the consultant to the issue, the preparation and verification of the prospectus, and the auditor’s review of the company’s financial statements.

It will also assess the SECP’s internal procedures for reviewing and approving IPO applications.

According to the SECP, the investigation’s findings will help strengthen the IPO approval framework by improving disclosure standards, ensuring greater accountability of auditors and consultants, facilitating the timely identification and reporting of material issues, and enhancing coordination between the PSX and the commission.

SECP Chairman Dr Kabir Sidhu said all IPOs must meet strict requirements for transparency, disclosure, scrutiny and accountability.

He said the commission would take firm action if violations were established and use the findings to address weaknesses in the IPO regulatory framework.

The chairman added that the objective was to ensure a robust and transparent approval process, with adequate disclosures to protect investors while enabling credible businesses to raise capital. The SECP said the findings of the investigation would be made public.
