DG ISPR hits back at Maulana Fazl over Salary remarks about Fallen Soldiers

Dg Ispr Hits Back At Maulana Fazl Over Salary Remarks About Fallen Soldiers

ISLAMABAD – Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) strongly reacted to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s remarks concerning Pakistan’s martyrs, saying that linking the ultimate sacrifice of soldiers to their salaries is incomprehensible and shows a failure to understand the basic nature of martyrdom.

The military spokesperson said the philosophy of martyrdom and the sacrifices of fallen soldiers remain the backbone of the Pakistan Armed Forces, saying those who lay down their lives for the country deserve the highest honour and respect.

ISPR chief said Pakistan’s soldiers sacrifice their precious lives to defend the nation and its people, questioning whether anyone would willingly embrace death merely for a salary. He maintained that reducing such extraordinary sacrifices to a financial transaction diminishes the significance of the commitment and devotion shown by personnel defending the homeland.

The response carried pointed political and national-security message. DG ISPR expressed concern that derogatory remarks about martyrs could strengthen the Indian narrative, describing such an outcome as difficult to comprehend.

“Martyrs’ sacrifices are the foundation of Pakistan’s defence, security and national dignity,” the military spokesperson emphasized in substance, reiterating that members of the armed forces remain prepared to give their lives for the protection of the country and its people.

Particular focus was on the martyrs of Kargil. DG ISPR called disrespectful commentary about the fallen soldiers and the promotion of India’s position as regrettable, insisting that those who sacrifice their lives in defence of the homeland must always be treated with dignity and reverence.

The statement said military’s position that the sacrifices of fallen personnel cannot be measured in monetary terms. At its core, the response frames martyrdom as a matter of national service, sacrifice and honour, not merely a question of employment or compensation.
