KSE-100 Index gains over 1,400 points in midday trading

KARACHI – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its upward momentum on Thursday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index gaining more than 1,400 points in midday trading amid sustained buying interest.

The index rose to 166,830.69 points by around midday, marking an increase of 1,413.19 points, or 0.85 per cent, compared with Wednesday’s closing level of 165,417.50 points.

During the session, the benchmark touched an intraday high of 166,868.14 points and a low of 165,613.11 points, reflecting continued activity in the market.

Trading remained active, with approximately 112.76 million shares changing hands, while the total value of traded shares reached Rs6.84 billion.

Thursday’s gains followed a positive session on Wednesday, when the benchmark index advanced by 641 points to close above the 165,000-point mark after experiencing volatility earlier in the trading day.

The latest advance indicates that buying activity has continued into the new session, with the index maintaining its position above the 166,000-point level and approaching the 166,900 mark during intraday trading.

On Wednesday, the market had recovered from an intraday low of around 164,060 points as investors selectively purchased shares, helping the benchmark regain lost ground.

The latest performance reflects a continuation of that recovery, although the index’s final closing level will depend on trading activity during the remaining hours of Thursday’s session.

Investors continued to monitor market movements as trading progressed, with the benchmark holding firmly above its previous close by midday.

The session remained underway at the time of reporting, and the final market position had yet to be determined.
