Five of a Family Found Dead in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed

Five members of a family were found dead at a house in a private housing society in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed area on Tuesday, rescue officials said.

The deceased were identified as 40-year-old Shahzaib, his wife Saba, also 40, their daughters Arya and Aizal, aged four and five, respectively, and Shahzaib’s 18-year-old sister, Shumaila.

Police suspect suicide in the incident, saying Shahzaib had allegedly left behind a note referring to financial hardship. According to investigators, he was unemployed and had been struggling with financial difficulties.

Police said Shahzaib had reportedly been meeting his expenses by selling property inherited from his late father.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the relevant deputy inspector general. He ordered a fair and transparent investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

He directed officials to collect evidence from the scene, conduct forensic examinations and complete the required legal procedures. He also instructed investigators to examine all possible criminal aspects of the case, identify anyone who might have been involved and keep him informed about developments in the investigation.

The incident comes weeks after five bodies, including those of a man, his wife and their three children, were discovered in a flat in Karachi’s Ahsanabad area in the SITE neighbourhood.

Police had also suspected suicide in that case, noting that the bodies appeared to have been there for several days. The man, identified as Dr Umar, was reportedly unemployed because of an illness and had been facing financial difficulties.
