KP: Sehat card discontinuation claims linked to Lt Gen (retd) Nigar Johar rejected

PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has rejected social media claims regarding the alleged discontinuation of the Sehat Card programme, describing a statement attributed to retired Lieutenant General (retd) Nigar Johar Khan as false.

According to a statement issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Information and Public Relations, Sammar Haroon Bilour said certain elements were attempting to spread misinformation about the Sehat Card programme.

Bilour also dismissed as fake a notification circulating on social media concerning the termination of Professor Dr Nosherwan Burki.

She said the provincial government would not engage in any form of retaliatory action and that serving the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with ensuring transparent performance, remained its top priority.

Bilour further stated that projects aimed at public welfare would continue. She added that any negligence or irregularities identified would be subject to accountability without discrimination.

The statement reiterated the government’s commitment to public service, transparency and accountability, while rejecting the claims circulating on social media regarding the Sehat Card programme and the alleged termination notification.

A day earlier, the federal government issued an order establishing an 11-member advisory council for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in the province.

The council, which will work under Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, will handle provincial government affairs on behalf of the federal government with the council’s assistance.

According to the order, the council will support the governor in carrying out government functions in accordance with the relevant constitutional provisions and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Rules of Business, 1985. The order has come into immediate effect.
