Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan has stressed the need for a comprehensive export strategy to help Pakistan’s poultry industry expand into international markets.
Addressing the International Poultry Expo (IPEX) 2026 at the Expo Centre Lahore on Thursday, he said the sector played a vital role in food security, employment generation and economic growth.
PM Advisor called for ensuring the uninterrupted supply of essential raw materials, including soybean, and improving production efficiency to make poultry products more affordable and competitive.
He said expanding exports of processed and branded halal poultry products required internationally recognised standards, effective disease surveillance, traceability, strong biosecurity and reliable cold-chain facilities.
Haroon Akhtar said the government would work with the Pakistan Poultry Association to develop an export roadmap identifying priority markets, regulatory requirements, production capacity and responsibilities.
Highlighting the role of modern technology, he urged international partners to support technology transfer, training and local supply chains, while encouraging greater opportunities for young people in poultry-related industries.
He said stronger government-industry cooperation, increased investment and a predictable business environment were essential for sustainable growth and making Pakistani products more competitive in global markets.
