Punjab Decides To Introduce Carpooling For Lahore Schools To Curb Smog

LAHORE – The environment department of Punjab has directed schools in Lahore to promote carpooling as part of efforts to reduce smog and ease traffic-related emissions during morning hours.

Director General Environment Abdullah Nair Sheikh instructed school administrations to make effective carpooling arrangements for students, parents and staff.

Schools have also been asked to form carpool groups for students travelling from the same routes or nearby areas.

The department said reducing traffic pressure and vehicle emissions during the morning rush is important for tackling smog in Lahore.

Schools have been advised to facilitate travel arrangements for students and parents and make carpooling an important part of anti-smog measures.

The department said carpooling arrangements should not place an additional financial burden on students or their parents.

It has also recommended that the School Education Department take effective measures to encourage carpooling.
