LAHORE – Police have arrested another woman in a case related to an Azerbaijan woman in Lahore’s Defence area.
According to police, the woman, identified as Muskan, was arrested from an upscale area of the city on suspicion of facilitating the suspects in the case. Police said photographs have also emerged showing the complainant, identified as Diana, sitting with Muskan at a café in Johar Town.
Police sources said Diana had visited Lahore several times previously. Her two mobile phones have yet to be recovered, according to investigators.
Police said Diana had travelled from Johar Town to a private housing society in the Sundar area before the alleged incident. Two suspects, identified as Mohsin and Ali, have already been arrested, while raids are being conducted to locate another suspect, identified as Tanveer.
Diana’s Complete Statement
Meanwhile, Diana’s statement recorded before a judicial magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has also surfaced.
In her statement, Diana said she was 22 years old and a citizen of Azerbaijan. She said she arrived in Islamabad from Istanbul on September 13 and subsequently travelled to Faisalabad, where she stayed for five days before going to Lahore. She said she had planned to travel to Skardu but was unable to continue the journey because she was alone.
According to her statement, Diana contacted Nimra and Muskan and arranged to meet them. She said she went alone to a café at around 11pm, where she met Muskan. Diana said Muskan told her that Nimra was waiting nearby, after which they went to meet her.
Diana stated that around 2am, two men arrived in a vehicle. She identified them as Mohsin and Ahmed and said they were invited to join them for food. She said the group later went to an apartment, where two more men arrived. One was identified as Ali Aziz, while she said she did not know the identity of the other man.
Diana alleged that Nimra received between Rs20,000 and Rs30,000 from Mohsin and offered the money to her, which she said she refused. She alleged that Mohsin then took her into another room, where three men were present.
According to her account, she asked about Nimra and Muskan and was told that they had left. She said she requested permission to leave but was allegedly told that she could not because her friend had taken money.
Diana further alleged that Ali Aziz threatened her and attempted to pressure her. She said alcohol was brought to the apartment and she was allegedly told that she would be allowed to leave after drinking.
She alleged that after drinking alcohol, she again asked to leave but was told to sleep there until the effects of the alcohol wore off.
Diana subsequently alleged that Mohsin, Ahmed and Ali Aziz sexually assaulted her.
She told the magistrate that she was later taken away in a vehicle. She alleged that she had Rs200,000 in cash and an iPhone, which were not returned. According to her statement, she was told her belongings would only be returned if she did not report the matter to police.
Diana alleged that she was eventually pushed out of the vehicle and left without her belongings. She said she sought help from people nearby and contacted police.
Police said the investigation is continuing, with two suspects currently in custody and efforts underway to arrest the third suspect. The two mobile phones belonging to the complainant have also not yet been recovered.
