NISSHIN – Pakistan qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s Asian Games 2026 cricket event after their quarter-final against Hong Kong were abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain in Nisshin.
With no play possible, Sahibzada Farhan-led Pakistan progressed to the last four on the basis of their higher ICC ranking in accordance with the tournament playing conditions.
Pakistan will take on the winners of the fourth quarter-final, which is scheduled to take place between Bangladesh and Malaysia on Tuesday, 29 September.
Both semi-finals will take place on Thursday, 1 October at the same venue.
Earlier this week, Pakistan secured Bronze Medal at the Asian Games women’s cricket event 2026 after they beat Bangladesh by 31 runs at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Tuesday. Fatima Sana starred with yet another all-round performance as her 45 pushed Pakistan to 145 and then right-arm off-spinner Umm-e-Hani took 3-10 to help restrict Bangladesh to 114-7 in the allotted 20 overs.
This is Pakistan’s third Medal in Asian Games women’s cricket history after they secured Gold in 2010 and 2014 events. In 2022, Pakistan lost the Bronze Medal match to Bangladesh.
