Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that a significant increase in patient attendance has been witnessed at public hospitals across Punjab. She said patient attendance at major public tertiary care hospitals had increased by 16 percent, while OPD attendance rose by 21 percent, IPD admissions by 11 percent and emergency cases by 9 percent.
The Chief Minister said the number of patients visiting major hospitals in Punjab had increased to over 45.7 million. She noted a 26 percent increase in Internal Medicine cases, 12 percent in Cardiology cases and 10 percent in Surgery cases.
A 9 percent increase each was recorded in paediatric and dermatology cases, while ENT patients increased by 7 percent, she added. The Chief Minister said more than 2.1 million parcels of cancer and cardiac medicines had been delivered to patients. A detailed report on patient attendance and treatment at public hospitals was presented at a special meeting of the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
