Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s visit to the Republic of Belarus concluded, marking a significant step towards further strengthening bilateral and parliamentary relations between the two countries.
The Chairman Senate led a parliamentary delegation to the Republic of Belarus at the invitation of his counterpart, Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic.
In a gesture reflecting the warmth and importance attached to Pakistan-Belarus relations, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova personally arrived at Minsk National Airport to see off the Chairman Senate and the accompanying parliamentary delegation despite the late hour.
During the visit, the Chairman of the Senate held substantive discussions with the leadership of the Council of the Republic and other Belarusian counterparts, focusing on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and expanding bilateral engagement in areas of mutual interest.
A Memorandum of Cooperation between the Council of the Republic and the Senate of Pakistan was also signed, providing an institutional framework for regular and substantive inter-parliamentary engagement.
The delegation also visited leading Belarusian institutions and facilities, including the Belarusian Centre for Advanced Medicine and the War History Museum, besides engaging with institutions to gain first-hand insight into Belarusian expertise in healthcare, technology, industry, innovation and the preservation of historical heritage.
The visit provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on regional and global developments and explore avenues for translating the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Belarus into practical cooperation, particularly through parliamentary diplomacy, economic engagement, technology, healthcare and other areas of mutual interest.
The warm farewell extended by the Belarusian parliamentary leadership brought the visit to a close in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect, reaffirming the shared commitment of Pakistan and Belarus to further deepen their bilateral and parliamentary ties.
