A World Bank delegation, led by Michel Rogy, Regional Practice Director for Digital and AI at the World Bank Group, visited the Office of AI & Special Initiatives Punjab and met Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on AI & Special Initiatives Ali Dar.
The meeting focused on Punjab’s AI and digital transformation agenda, technology-enabled public service delivery, and strengthening data-driven governance.
Ali Dar said that under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab is connecting modern technology with better governance and public service delivery. AI and digital technologies can play an important role in making public services more effective, efficient and citizen-friendly.
He said Punjab is advancing data-driven governance to strengthen government decision-making. AI Vision 2029 provides a comprehensive roadmap for Punjab’s digital future and modern governance, with AI being deployed not merely as technology but as a tool to deliver practical government outcomes.
Ali Dar said that AI offers significant opportunities to strengthen institutional capacity and improve efficiency across government systems. He added that Punjab is rapidly moving towards modern, data-driven and AI-enabled governance.
The meeting also explored opportunities for further cooperation between the World Bank Group and Punjab in AI, digital governance, and knowledge exchange. Ali Dar said that sharing international knowledge and experience will further strengthen Punjab’s AI agenda and support the province’s digital transformation journey.
