LAHORE – Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has been proposed to retain the captaincy of Pakistan’s T20 team for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka, the sources said on Thursday.
The development is expected after Sahibzada Farhan’s performance at the Asian Games.
The sources said that head coach Mike Hesson is in favour of replacing Salman Ali Agha with Farhan as Pakistan’s T20 captain.
The sources said Pakistan are likely to give opportunities to several young players during the three-match series against Sri Lanka.
The team management is also working on a plan to build a pool of players with an eye on the 2028 T20 World Cup. Sources said there is currently little likelihood of Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf returning to the squad for the series.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to play three T20 matches in Rawalpindi on October 9, 11 and 13.
