Suthra Punjab Authority and the Excise Department have signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) to streamline collectio of sanitation fees from urban areas.
Suthra Punjab Director General Umar Javed and Excise Director General Umar Sher Chattha signed the agreement at a ceremony attended by senior officials, including Additional DGs Rizwan-ul-Haq and Ahmad Saeed.
Under the agreement, the Excise Department will collect sanitation charges along with property tax. It will also conduct door-to-door surveys, print sanitation bills and handle complaints concerning the charges.
The Excise Department said a uniform sanitation fee structure would be enforced across Punjab’s urban areas.
Under the approved schedule, residential properties measuring up to five marlas will be charged Rs300 per month, while properties measuring five to 10 marlas will pay Rs500. The monthly fee will rise to Rs1,000 for 10–20 marla properties, Rs2,000 for 20–40 marlas and Rs5,000 for properties exceeding 40 marlas.
For commercial premises, the monthly fee has been set at Rs500 for small units, Rs1,000 for medium-sized units and Rs3,000 for large units.
The Excise Department will charge a 1% service fee for collecting sanitation charges.
