Pakistan, Russia, Oman join forces for Druzhba-IX and Al Bashiq Al Jabal-II drills

Pakistan kicked off two high-profile joint military exercises with Russia and Oman, delivering a major boost to defence cooperation, counter-terrorism readiness and battlefield coordination among the three countries.

The ninth edition of the Pakistan-Russia joint exercise Druzhba-IX is underway at Cherat, while the second Pakistan-Oman exercise Al Bashiq Al Jabal-II has begun at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi.

The two-week military drills bring together contingents of the Pakistan Army, Russian military and Royal Oman Army for intensive joint training and professional exchanges.

At the centre of the exercises is counter-terrorism training, with participating troops working on operational procedures, exchanging battlefield experience and sharing proven best practices.

The joint activity is expected to further sharpen the combat capabilities, tactical skills and operational preparedness of the participating forces. It will also give troops valuable opportunities to train together and strengthen their ability to operate in coordinated environments.

The exercises carry significance beyond battlefield training, reinforcing Pakistan’s defence partnerships with both Russia and Oman and creating fresh opportunities for closer military-to-military engagement.

The participating forces will also focus on strengthening communication, coordination and interoperability, helping them develop a deeper understanding of joint operational requirements.

With Druzhba-IX and Al Bashiq Al Jabal-II underway, Pakistan is expanding practical defence cooperation with two important partners while providing its forces with another platform to enhance tactical expertise, exchange operational knowledge and build stronger professional ties.
