Development focus extends to all 41 Punjab districts: Maryam

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said the province’s development focus was no longer limited to any particular city but extended to all 41 districts.

Speaking at a meeting with members of the Punjab Assembly and ticket-holders from Multan, she said development projects were being planned for the first time according to population ratios.

During the meeting, they presented suggestions and recommendations for resolving public issues.

The Chief Minister noted their proposals and ordered necessary measures. The members of the provincial assembly and ticket-holders thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for development projects in the district.

They paid tribute to her for the construction of the Jalalpur Pirwala and Noraja Bhutta flood protection embankments in record time. The Chief Minister agreed to a proposal to construct a bridge over the Chenab between Shujabad and Khan Garh.

She also directed officials to examine a proposal to relocate the jail and build a public park at its site. She ordered the widening and redesigning of Khanewal Road. Speaking to the lawmakers, Maryam Nawaz said that the focus of development was no longer a single city but all 41 districts of Punjab.

She said the Green Bus service was launched first in remote areas of Punjab and later introduced in Lahore. She said develop-ment projects were being carried out in Punjab for the first time according to population proportions.

She said that after Mayo Hospital Lahore, a cancer ablation machine had been installed in Multan, South Punjab’s largest city, and treatment of cancer patients had begun. She said cancer patients from not only Multan but also other provinces would benefit from non-surgical treatment through the ablation machine brought from China. Maryam Nawaz directed that members of the pro-vincial assembly should remain involved in their respective Constituencies until development projects were completed.

The lawmakers paid tribute to her, saying they stood with her and would always continue to do so. They said other provinces had fallen behind in development while Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had established a clear lead, and Punjab had emerged as the strongest example of development.

They called Maryam Nawaz Sharif the courageous daughter of a brave father and praised her outstanding measures for maintain-ing law and order. They said the benefits of development had begun reaching the people and that she had taken bold decisions to eliminate land-grabbing groups.
