PESHAWAR – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly finalised initial plans for its September 27 long march towards Islamabad, with party planning sit-ins at multiple locations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Reports said the strategy involves moving towards Islamabad in stages. They said the motorway and Grand Trunk Road would be blocked at various points within KP, with different party organisations assigned locations for sit-ins and camps.
Peshawar, Khyber, Nowshera and Akora Khattak have been designated for action around the Attock Bridge, while Malakand, Swabi, Mardan and Charsadda have been assigned locations along the motorway. A sit-in is also planned at Khushal Garh in the southern districts.
Party organisations have been provided details of the designated locations. A meeting has also been called in Peshawar by the KP chief minister to discuss the final strategy.
In Haripur, camps have been identified at Hattar, Khanpur, Jhari Kas and Makhniyal, as well as along the Hazara Motorway. In Abbottabad, Barian and Kohala have been designated, while Topi in Swabi and the M-1 Motorway have also been identified for camps.
Other designated locations include Khairabad Kund at the Attock Bridge in Nowshera, Kundal in Lakki Marwat and Khushal Garh in Kohat.
All PTI members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, as well as senators, had been directed to participate in the camps and assist with arrangements.
The September 27 Islamabad march remains the party’s stated plan. They said the camps were intended to facilitate workers and that sit-ins would be held wherever the march encountered a roadblock.
KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is expected to lead the march from Peshawar.
