Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari on Thursday, responding to Fawad Chaudhry over a payment made by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, said that unnecessary propaganda was being spread over the clearing date mentioned on the cheque.
She said normal cheques in Pakistan were cleared the following day, adding that it was a standard banking procedure. Once the amount was deposited in banks, she added, clearance took place on the next day.
Azma Bokhari said Grok itself had provided an answer to Fawad Chaudhry’s lack of understanding on the matter. She added that a person who used to operate a helicopter at the rate of Rs55 per kilometre, and whose leader had spent billions of rupees, would be better advised to remain silent.
Moreover, Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that the United Nations has nominated Punjab government’s “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” project for a global award, describing the recognition as an honour for 140 million people.
She said the housing project, developed through the Punjab government’s own resources, is among the five major projects in the world and the largest project of its kind in Pakistan.
Under the initiative, 202,913 houses have been built, including 118,088 completed houses, while 53,233 houses are currently under construction.
Azma Bokhari said providing deserving and homeless people with their own homes was the dream of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. She said more than 200,000 people have been provided with homes in just two years, while the Punjab government has set a target of providing “Apni Chhat” to 500,000 people within five years.
