LAHORE – A new procedure for obtaining driving licences took effect across the relevant jurisdictions from today September 17, 2026, introducing stricter requirements for applicants taking the licence tests.
Under the new procedure, applicants who pass the e-sign test will be required to take the road test within 24 hours.
If the road test is not completed within that period, the e-sign test result will become invalid and the applicant will have to restart the process.
Officials have directed traffic officers to strictly implement the new procedure. Applicants who complete both the e-sign and road tests within the prescribed 24-hour period will also need to have their PSID generated for the process to receive approval.
According to officials, failure to generate the PSID within 24 hours will result in both test results becoming invalid.
Applicants will also have seven days to pay the PSID fee. Failure to submit the fee within the specified period will lead to cancellation of the entire process.
In cases where the PSID expires, applicants will be required to retake both the e-sign and road tests, with the tests again needing to be completed within 24 hours.
Traffic authorities said the road-test site will process the regular licence application. The DIG Traffic has issued instructions to traffic heads in all districts to ensure implementation of the + new procedure.
