More intermittent rains, with isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms, are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Tuesday night and the next two days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a low-pressure system lies over West Gujarat (India) and adjoining southeast Sindh. It is expected to weaken and become insignificant during the next 24 hours. A westerly wave is also affecting upper and central parts of the country.
Under these conditions, more rains, with isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms, are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Upper/Central Punjab, and southeastern Sindh on Tuesday night. Light rain may occur at isolated places in southern Punjab.
On Wednesday and Thursday, more intermittent rains, with isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms, are likely in Islamabad, Rwalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, and northeast Balochistan.
Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Lahore. Widespread rains may generate flash floods in local streams/nullahs in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Malakand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and hill torrents of D.G.Khan.
Landslides may occur in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir. Windstorms, hailstorms & lightning may damage weak structures like solar panels, electric poles, and billboards.
Islamabad’s daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 25°C and 27°C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Rawalpindi’s daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 27°C and 29°C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Over the past 24 hours, widespread rains occurred in Islamabad, Pothohar region, upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and at isolated places in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Lower Sindh.
