Relief for Pakistanis hoping to travel to UAE, as the gulf nation started issuing visit visas to Pakistani citizens applying through registered travel agents, signaling a significant easing of the strict visa screening that frustrated travelers for months.

The development is expected to revive tourism, family reunions and business travel between the two countries after an extended period during which applicants faced long processing times and unusually high rejection rates.

The latest development marks a dramatic turnaround after one of the toughest periods for Pakistani travelers seeking UAE visas.

Throughout late 2025, particularly in November, travel agents reported that 70 to 80 percent of first-time and solo applicants were being refused visas. Many applications were reportedly rejected within hours, often citing nationality-related eligibility concerns.

Young individual travelers, especially those under 40 without strong financial records or international travel history, were among the hardest hit.

Meanwhile, applicants traveling with family members, sponsored by UAE residents, or supported by substantial bank statements and previous travel records generally had much higher approval rates, with some travel agencies estimating family visa approvals at nearly 80 percent.

Pakistani authorities later informed Parliament that stricter screening was introduced after authorities identified cases involving forged educational certificates, fake employment documents, visa overstays, criminal activity, unauthorized political involvement and misuse of social media by a small number of applicants.

These concerns prompted UAE authorities to implement tougher background verification and document checks.

UAE consistently rejected claims of any blanket visa ban, insisting that every application continued to be assessed individually based on merit. Officials also highlighted that visa processing remained operational through authorized visa centers, including the UAE Visa Centre in Karachi.
