More monsoon rains with scattered heavy falls are likely in Lahore and most parts of Punjab on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, with occasional breaks.

Synoptic Situation

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a depression is currently located over eastern Madhya Pradesh. It is expected to move westward during the next 24 to 36 hours.

Under the influence of this deep depression, monsoon currents are continuously penetrating the eastern and central parts of Pakistan.

More monsoon rains with scattered heavy falls are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Khushab, Mianwali, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur, Multan, Vehari, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, with occasional breaks.

Impacts

Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore and Faisalabad.

Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of Murree and Galiyat.

Widespread rains may trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs of Murree, Galiyat, northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, the Pothohar Region, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.

Temperatures Forecast

Daytime temperatures in Lahore are expected to remain between 31°C and 33°C on Saturday and Sunday.
