BEIJING – A Chinese chef has become an internet sensation after social media users noticed his remarkable resemblance to billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.
The 48-year-old chef, Ma Jianping, owns a restaurant in Tongchuan, located in China’s Shaanxi province. Before entering the restaurant business, he worked as an electrician for several years.
His unexpected rise to online fame began after a video showing him serving food to customers went viral.
The viewers quickly pointed out his striking facial resemblance to Musk, sparking widespread discussion across Chinese social media platforms.
Ma Jianping said the sudden attention has left him feeling both nervous and shy. However, the viral fame has had a positive impact on his business, with his restaurant’s revenue reportedly doubling as visitors flock to the venue to meet the man many have dubbed “China’s Elon Musk.”
One customer jokingly remarked that it felt like meeting Musk in real life, adding to the excitement surrounding the restaurant.
Despite receiving offers to explore business opportunities and participate in live-streaming activities, Ma Jianping said he has no interest in becoming an online influencer.
Instead, he plans to remain focused on running his restaurant.
