Rain likely in Karachi from August 1 evening to August 2: PMD

Rain Likely In Karachi From August 1 Evening To August 2 Pmd

KARACHI – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Karachi from the evening of August 1 through August 2 under the influence of a developing weather system.

The PMD said that a strong low-pressure system that formed over the Bay of Bengal has maintained its intensity and is currently positioned over India’s Madhya Pradesh as a deep depression.

The department said the system is expected to weaken over the next 12 hours and gradually turn into a depression before further weakening into a low-pressure area within the following 24 to 36 hours.

The Met Office said moist winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are entering the upper and central parts of Pakistan, while a westerly weather system is also affecting the country’s northern regions.

Under the influence of the system, intermittent rainfall is expected from the evening or night of July 31 until August 2 in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, Sanghar and Hyderabad.

For Karachi, the PMD has predicted light to moderate rain between the evening of August 1 and August 2. However, it said there is currently no likelihood of heavy downpours in the city from this weather system.
