The Punjab government has approved financial compensation and welfare packages for the families of 14 police personnel who embraced martyrdom while carrying out their official duties.
The approval was granted during a meeting of the Punjab Home Department chaired by Provincial Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan.
During the meeting, three categories of martyr compensation packages were approved based on the nature of service and circumstances of the incidents.
Martyr Package-I was sanctioned for police personnel who lost their lives while combating terrorists in Bhakkar and Layyah. Martyr Package-II was approved for officers and officials martyred in the line of duty in Bahawalnagar, Sargodha, Rajanpur, Faisalabad, and Gujrat. Martyr Package-III covered personnel who laid down their lives while performing official responsibilities in Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sahiwal.
Under Martyr Package-I, compensation was approved for Constables Muhammad Shehbaz and Muhammad Faheem, who were martyred during a terrorist attack on the Dajal Check Post in Bhakkar, as well as Constable Muhammad Asad Naseer of Layyah.
Martyr Package-II was granted for the families of Sub-Inspector Shahid Parvez of Bahawalnagar, Sub-Inspector Aamir Rizwan of Sargodha, Constable Muhammad Nasir of Rajanpur, Driver Constable Iftikhar Ahmad of Faisalabad, and Constable Mirza Umar Aftab Baig of Gujrat.
Martyr Package-III was approved for Sub-Inspector Muhammad Zaman Zia and Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Bashir of Bahawalnagar, Constable Muhammad Bismillah of Dera Ghazi Khan, Constable Muhammad Ramzan of Rahim Yar Khan, Constable Tahir-ul-Zaman Siddiqui of Sahiwal, and Constable Muhammad Waris of Bahawalnagar.
Officials informed the meeting that under Martyr Package-I, the family of a martyred constable will receive Rs. 10 million, a five-marla house, and additional benefits.
Under Martyr Package-II, the heirs of a martyred constable will be provided Rs. 4 million, a five-marla house, and other benefits, while the family of a martyred assistant sub-inspector will receive Rs. 5 million, a seven-marla house, along with additional entitlements.
Under Martyr Package-III, the family of a martyred constable will receive Rs. 3.5 million and other benefits, whereas the heirs of martyred assistant sub-inspectors and sub-inspectors will be granted Rs. 4 million along with the prescribed benefits.
Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan directed the relevant departments to ensure that all financial assistance and benefits are released without delay so that no bereaved family is deprived of its legal entitlements.
He paid tribute to the fallen police personnel, describing them as the nation’s true heroes whose sacrifices would always be remembered with pride and respect.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to standing by the families of martyrs and vowed that those responsible for killing police officials in the line of duty would be brought to justice and punished in accordance with the law.
