ISLAMABAD – The government has introduced an early passport renewal facility for citizens planning to apply for Hajj 2027.
The decision was taken following a request from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, after which passport and immigration authorities issued formal instructions to facilitate intending pilgrims.
According to the ministry spokesperson, applicants for Hajj 2027 will now be able to renew their passports before the usual renewal period. Passport offices across Pakistan and overseas have been directed to receive early renewal applications from Hajj applicants and process them on a priority basis.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that intending pilgrims must have a Pakistani passport valid until November 16, 2027, to participate in the Hajj 2027 process.
Applicants will be able to seek early passport renewal under Passport Rules 3(C), allowing them to complete the required documentation ahead of time.
The ministry further clarified that a valid Pakistani passport will be mandatory for Hajj 2027 applications, and applications without the required passport validity will not be accepted.
Authorities said the measure has been introduced to provide greater convenience to pilgrims and help them complete travel documentation well before the Hajj arrangements begin.
Passport Renewal Fee 2026
The fee for renewing a regular Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) in Pakistan varies depending on the number of pages, validity period, and processing category.
For a 36-page passport, the renewal fee for a five-year validity is Rs. 4,500 under the normal processing category, while the urgent processing fee is Rs. 7,500. A 36-page passport with a 10-year validity carries a fee of Rs. 6,700 for normal processing and Rs. 11,200 for urgent service.
Applicants requiring a 72-page passport with five-year validity have to pay Rs. 8,200 for normal processing and Rs. 13,500 for urgent processing. For a 10-year validity 72-page passport, the charges are Rs. 12,400 under normal processing and Rs. 20,200 under urgent service.
For a 100-page passport, the renewal fee for a five-year validity document is Rs. 9,000 under normal processing and Rs. 18,000 under urgent processing. A 10-year validity 100-page passport costs Rs. 13,500 for normal processing and Rs. 27,000 for urgent service.
