Iran has rejected reports that it has requested the resumption of negotiations with the United States to bring an end to the conflict, while maintaining that there has been no change in the Strait of Hormuz situation.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei dismissed claims that Tehran was pursuing renewed dialogue with Washington.
Baghaei criticised the United States over what he described as its “unprovoked” attack on Iran, arguing that Washington now finds itself facing the consequences of its own actions.
“The Americans have created this situation themselves and are now struggling with it,” he told reporters. “Our decisions regarding the war are guided solely by our national interests.”
