TRINIDAD – Lahore Qalandars have released Pakistan batter Abdullah Shafique from their squad for the Global Super League, with Bangladesh’s Shamim Hossain named as his replacement.
Shafique featured in his final match for the franchise in Guyana before departing to join Pakistan’s Test squad in Trinidad and Tobago ahead of the ongoing Test series against the West Indies.
In his last appearance for Lahore Qalandars, the right-handed batter scored a quick 21 runs off 13 balls against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Shafique has been called up to Pakistan’s Test squad as a replacement for the injured Abdullah Fazal, prompting his early exit from the Global Super League campaign.
The inclusion strengthens Pakistan’s options for the remainder of the Test series, while Lahore Qalandars will now rely on Shamim Hossain for the rest of their Global Super League fixtures.
