Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Sunday announced that security agencies had arrested an individual involved in an India-linked digital influence operation.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar said the suspect had been offering digital marketing services. He added that investigators found evidence indicating that the digital activities carried out by the accused were connected to India.
According to him, funds used to promote anti-Pakistan content on social media platforms were traced to sources in India.
Tarar said the investigation also exposed a network of bot farms that was allegedly being used to spread disinformation and artificially amplify content aimed at Pakistan, its sovereignty, the government, the armed forces, and other state institutions.
He further stated that during questioning, the suspect revealed that a considerable share of the material he received focused on the activities of the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Azad Kashmir.
