Security forces have killed 16 terrorists in the ongoing Operation Al-Azm in Balochistan, according to state media, citing security sources.
Pakistan Television (PTV) reported on Sunday that intelligence-based operations carried out under Operation Al-Azm against Fitna al-Hindustan resulted in the elimination of 16 terrorists. The operations also led to the destruction of several militant hideouts and the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and explosive materials.
The government uses the term Fitna al-Hindustan for militant groups operating in Balochistan, alleging Indian involvement in supporting terrorism and efforts to destabilise Pakistan.
Operation Al-Azm was launched following Wednesday’s attack on a passenger coach travelling from Quetta to Karachi, in which three people were killed, and five others were injured.
The operation comes amid persistent security challenges in Balochistan. Earlier this week, the military announced that security forces had killed 10 terrorists and arrested two suicide bombers along with their facilitator during separate operations in the Mastung and Surab districts over 48 hours.
Earlier this month, security forces and law enforcement agencies also launched Operation Shaban after militants attacked a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat on July 6. The assault resulted in the abduction and killing of 27 police personnel.
