Synoptic Situation
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea & Bay of Bengal are penetrating the upper and central parts of Pakistan and are likely to strengthen. A westerly wave is also affecting the most parts of the country.
Forecast
Under these conditions, more widespread intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab, Northeastern Balochistan, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan.Heavy rains are also expected at isolated places during the period.
Impacts
Persistent rains may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad), Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree & Galyat, and Kashmir.
Widespread rains may generate flash flooding in local streams and nullahs of Kashmir, Murree & Galyat, Northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and the northeastern parts of Balochistan.
Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Multan and Faisalabad. Windstorm, lightning & heavy rains may damage weak structures such as solar panels, electric poles, and billboards.

Daytime temperatures in Islamabad are expected to remain between 30°C and 32°C on Friday and between 31°C and 33°C on Saturday.
Daytime temperatures in Rawalpindi are expected to remain between 28°C and 32°C on Friday and between 29°C and 31°C on Saturday.
