LAHORE – Just when Pakistanis thought their wallets had endured enough, the federal government delivered yet another surprise by increasing petroleum prices by Rs6.39.
On the recommendations of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the Sharif-led government raised price of petrol by Rs6.39 per litre, taking it to Rs327.12 per litre. Diesel, which is widely used in transport and agriculture sectors, has become Rs7.83 per litre more expensive, reaching Rs375.04 per litre.
New Fuel Prices
- Petrol: Rs327.12 per litre (+Rs6.39)
- High-Speed Diesel: Rs375.04 per litre (+Rs7.83)
- Kerosene Oil: Rs297.17 per litre (+Rs7.80)
Kerosene oil has also joined the list, with its price climbing Rs7.80 per litre to Rs297.17 per litre.
With the revised rates now in force, Pakistanis can once again look forward to the familiar chain reaction: costlier transport, higher freight charges, pricier groceries and another round of inflation. After all, in Pakistan, a fuel price hike rarely stops at the petrol pump, it eventually finds its way into nearly every household expense.
For families already struggling with soaring living costs, the latest increase is expected to tighten budgets even further, while businesses brace for rising operating expenses. As consumers prepare to pay more for almost everything, the only thing moving faster than fuel prices appears to be the cost of living.
