Widespread intermittent monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Synoptic Situation
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea & Bay of Bengal are penetrating the upper parts of Pakistan and are likely to strengthen. A westerly wave is also likely to affect the upper and central parts of the country.
Forecast
Under these conditions, widespread intermittent monsoon rains are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab, Northeast Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday night and Wednesday. Heavy and at times very heavy falls may also occur at a few places.
Impacts
Widespread rains may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad), Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree & Galyat, and Kashmir.
Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in local streams and nullahs of Kashmir, Murree & Galyat, Northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and the northeastern parts of Balochistan.
Downpour may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Multan and Faisalabad. Windstorm, lightning & heavy rains may damage weak structures such as solar panels, electric poles, and billboards.

Daytime temperatures in Islamabad and Rawalpindi are expected to remain between 24°C and 26°C on Wednesday and Thursday.
