KARACHI – With the end of summer vacations approaching, questions are being raised over whether schools across Sindh will reopen as scheduled or if the holidays will be extended due to expected hot and humid weather conditions in August 2026.
The Sindh government had announced summer vacations for all public and private schools from June 1 to July 31, 2026. According to the official schedule, regular academic activities for the 2026-27 school year are expected to resume from August 1, 2026.
However, concerns have emerged among parents and students as weather forecasts indicate continued heat across the province during August.
Coastal areas, including Karachi, are expected to experience hot and humid conditions with temperatures ranging between 31°C to 34°C, while upper and inland districts such as Sukkur and Larkana may face more intense heat, with temperatures potentially reaching approximately 41°C.
The forecast also suggests chances of monsoon showers in different parts of Sindh, which could add to weather-related challenges for students and educational institutions.
No official announcement has been issued by the Sindh government regarding an extension of summer holidays so far.
Authorities have not indicated any change in the reopening schedule, and schools are currently expected to resume classes from August 1 as planned.
Last year, the Sindh government did not extend summer vacations beyond the announced schedule, and educational activities resumed according to the notified calendar.
Parents and students are now awaiting further updates from the provincial education authorities regarding any possible changes in the reopening date in view of weather conditions.
