WASHINGTON/TEHRAN – The United States has carried out a seventh consecutive night of military strikes against Iran, targeting key military infrastructure,while Iranian authorities reported civilian casualties and warned of retaliation as tensions across the region continued to escalate.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the latest wave of strikes targeted surveillance centres, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities and naval assets.
The operation involved fighter jets, armed drones and US naval warships.
CENTCOM said the campaign is being conducted under the direction of its commander to hold Iran accountable. It added that a naval blockade against Iranian ports remains in force and that more than 50,000 US troops stationed across the Middle East are on high alert and ready for further operations.
Iranian state media, citing Tasnim News Agency, reported that three people were killed and eight others injured in US airstrikes in Hormozgan province. A provincial official confirmed the casualties, while Iranian authorities said eight civilians had also been killed in separate strikes on the province a day earlier.
Iranian media further claimed that overnight attacks targeted electricity infrastructure and a desalination plant in the coastal city of Jask.
Separately, the Kuwaiti military said missiles and drones launched from Iran were intercepted and destroyed before reaching their intended targets.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the US strikes, saying the deaths of Iranian civilians would not go unanswered. He said Iran would continue defending its sovereignty and territory, adding that the three victims in Hormozgan were struck while crossing the Bandar Khamir Bridge.
In a separate statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had targeted US military facilities in the Gulf, including a US Navy fuel support pier at Kuwait’s Al Ahmadi Port and the location of US military aircraft at Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base.
The IRGC also warned that countries hosting US military forces should expect an “appropriate response,” underscoring the growing risk of a wider regional confrontation.
