Pakistan China Partnership Enters New Phase With 440 Million Pharmaceutical Agreements

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and China advanced economic ties with signing of $440 million worth of pharmaceutical agreements at the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical B2B Conference.

All Weathers brothers have taken major step toward strengthening their strategic partnership, with pharmaceutical companies from both countries signing agreements worth $440 million during the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical B2B Conference, as leaders also pledged to expand cooperation in trade, technology, artificial intelligence, and investment.

PM Shehbaz Sharif hailed signing of the agreements as a major milestone for Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry and bilateral economic ties. He said the latest deals reflect growing confidence between Pakistani and Chinese businesses and will help unlock new investment opportunities.

The premier called China as Pakistan’s most trusted and dependable partner, recalling Beijing’s consistent support during challenging periods. He said the first phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has already brought more than $30 billion in Chinese investment, adding that the newly signed pharmaceutical agreements represent another important step toward accelerating CPEC Phase II.

Sharif also praised Chinese President Xi Jinping, crediting his leadership with transforming China’s economy and society while acknowledging China’s longstanding investment in Pakistan’s development.

The conference featured the exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between Pakistani and Chinese pharmaceutical companies, highlighting growing commercial engagement in the healthcare sector.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan described the conference as a new platform for expanding bilateral cooperation, saying the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries hold enormous potential for future collaboration. He added that the initiative provides an important bridge between enterprises from both countries at a time when Pakistan-China economic relations are entering a new phase.

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said the conference reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare industry and attracting foreign investment. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s economic leadership, saying the government is steering the country’s economy toward stability and growth.

Pakistan and China reaffirmed their commitment to broadening cooperation beyond the pharmaceutical sector during a high-level meeting in Shanghai between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The two sides reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and agreed to intensify collaboration in key sectors, including trade, investment, science and technology, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Both sides also stressed importance of advancing high-quality development under CPEC Phase II, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening the long-standing All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

The latest pharmaceutical agreements, coupled with renewed commitments to cooperation in emerging technologies and strategic industries, signal a fresh phase in Pakistan-China relations, with both countries seeking to deepen economic integration and drive investment-led growth.
