KSE-100 Posts Sharp Gains Amid Broad-Based Buying

The Pakistan Stock Exchange continued its winning run on Thursday as strong buying activity drove the benchmark KSE-100 Index up by more than 1.6%.

The index started the session on a positive note, briefly touching a low of 175,672.33 before extending its advance to an intraday peak of 178,431.73. The broad-based gains reflected continued investor interest across major sectors.

Although some profit-taking emerged during the session, selling remained limited, and the market stayed close to its highest level during the final hours of trading.

At the close, the KSE-100 Index stood at 178,123.56, marking a gain of 2,837.78 points, or 1.62%.

The market had also posted a strong recovery on Wednesday, when investors returned to equities to take advantage of lower prices following a steep decline in the previous session. Despite the rebound, concerns over continuing tensions in the Middle East continued to influence investor sentiment.

On Wednesday, the benchmark rose 1,766.97 points, or 1.02%, to finish at 175,285.78.

Global markets presented a mixed picture on Thursday. Asian equities largely declined as semiconductor stocks came under pressure ahead of the quarterly results of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). Meanwhile, bond markets drew support from fresh US inflation data that reduced expectations of an immediate interest rate increase.
