ISLAMABAD – A rare solar eclipse next month will briefly darken daytime skies across parts of world.
On August 12, the Moon will align between Earth and the Sun, casting a temporary shadow over parts of Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia, Spain, and Portugal.
Total Solar Eclipse Date
A total solar eclipse will occur on the night of August 12–13, 2026.
Where to Watch It
The event will be fully visible from Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Russia and a small part of Portugal. A partial solar eclipse will also be visible across parts of Europe, Africa, North America, the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The eclipse will not be visible from Pakistan.

How to Watch Safely
People located in regions where the eclipse is visible should never look directly at the Sun without proper eye protection. Certified solar viewing glasses or specially designed solar filters should be used throughout the event. Those outside the eclipse’s visibility path, including Pakistan, can follow the phenomenon through live online broadcasts provided by astronomy organizations or observatories.
