CM Murad orders swift, effective search, rescue operation

Immediately after the reports of plane crash came in Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah talked to Additional IG Police Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon and Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani and directed them to rush to the spot and supervise speedy and potent search and rescue operation. “I want you to make all out efforts to save lives, this is important.”Meanwhile, he directed health department to declare emergency in the hospitals and arrange blood and other required medicines apart from ensuring presence of senior doctors on the duty. The chief minister along with his adviser Murtaza Wahab personally visited the spot, Model Colony, District Korangi where the plane crashed. Deputy Commissioner Korangi Shaharyar Memon briefing the chief minister said that the plane crash has damaged 12 to 15 houses in the area. The parts of the plane broke the windows and doors of the houses and ignited fire in some of the houses. The Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was told that the fire has been extinguished and cooling procedure has been started. To a question, the chief minister was told that three passengers, including the President of Bank of Punjab have been rescued from the plane, otherwise there seemed to be complete loss of lives.To another question, the chief minister was told that four houses have been completely damaged and three women were rescued from there. It was also disclosed that some of the bodies have also been recovered from the damaged houses.The chief minister appreciated launching of rescue operation on the spot in time. He appreciated the administration, police, Rangers, revenue officials and ambulance staff for their rescue work. “I know you are fasting but even then your spirit is high,” he encouraged them. Later, the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited Zafar Mahmood, the miraculous survivor of plane crash at DarulSehat hospital and inquired about his health.The chief minister when arrived he was being checked by the doctors. “Hey Zafar! Murad is here,” the chief minister invited the attention of Zafar who was lying on the stretcher. Zafar opened his eye and replied, “thank you Murad, I am ok – thank you so much for your visit.” Zafar blinked his eye as a gesture of good will to the chief minister. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah told Zafar, “I am happy to see you in stable condition and you will recover soon,” he said and added “Let the doctors do their work and I’ll visit you again,” he said and then they both, the CM and Zafar Mahmood, exchanged smiles of understanding and satisfaction.
