Lahore Police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan on the eve of Chand Raat and Eid in wake of impending dangers of coronavirus to maintain law and order and ensure safety of the citizens. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations wing) Lahore Rai Babar Saeed while giving details of the security plan informed that more than seven thousand policemen along with officers and officials will perform duty on coming Chand Raat and Eid ul Fitar.
As many as 6 SPs, 35 DSPs, 83 inspectors and more than 500 sub ordinates will be on duty on this Eid. Rai Babar Saeed informed that there are more than 5 thousands masajid in the city which have been categorized according to their sensitivity in different categories. There are 113 masajid of category “A”, 2214 masajid of category “B” and 2677 masajid of category “C” chich will be provided foolproof security on Eid prayer. Eid prayers will be performed on 190 open places of the city as well which will also be provided complete security.
The DIG further said that implementation on 20 points government directions regarding coronavirus preventive measures will be ensured through enforcement teams in collaboration with masajid committees and citizens. Police jawans of Special Security Unit (SSU), Anti-Riot Force (ARF), Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit will be highly alert on their places of postings and ensure complete checking of citizens at masajid and other related places.
Dolphin Squad and PRU teams will ensure effective patrolling around these religious places. The citizens will be provided three-layer safety at masajid and religious places through checking mechanism. DIG Operations Lahore Rai Babar Saeed further said that search and sweep operations, snap checking, biometric verification and all other preventive measures will be adopted to restrain from any untoward situation.
Metal detectors and walk through gates along with CCTV cameras will be used for checking and monitoring purposes. Snipers will be deputed on roofs of building to keep an eye on any possible suspects or any suspicious activity. Strict action will be taken against persons involved in aerial firing, one wheeling and hooliganism on Chand Raat and Eid ul Fitar. All the vehicles, motor bikes and persons will be thoroughly checked at Exit and Entrance points of the city.
Preventive measures have been adopted against anti social elements and their data has been updated to stop such culprits to disturb peace of the city. DIG Operations Lahore Rai Babar Saeed hoped that citizens will play a pivotal role and provide full support to Lahore Police to ensure peace in the city during Eid festivity.
