MIRANSHAH – A tragedy was narrowly avoided near Miranshah as Pakistani security forces intercepted an explosives-laden vehicle headed toward a military post.

Militants belonging to Fitna al Khawarij, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), attempted to ram an explosives-laden vehicle into a military installation. Alert troops detected the threat in time and destroyed the vehicle before it could reach its target, foiling the attack and averting significant casualties.
The operation resulted in killing of four militants. Officials credited the success of the mission to heightened vigilance and robust security measures in the area.
Security sources suggested that the attempted suicide bombing may have been a desperate response to the recent success of counterterrorism operations around Miranshah, where more than 20 militants have reportedly been eliminated over the past several days. Ongoing search and clearance operations continue across the region, with authorities vowing to track down all those involved in the attack and their facilitators.

The scale of violence pushed Pakistan to the top of the Global Terrorism Index 2026 for the first time, underscoring the severity of the crisis and the growing instability in key regions.
